SCV Weekly Pulse: Bike Fire Fully Contained as a Stormy Thursday Opens a Sunny Weekend |

Good news first: the Bike Fire is fully out. The 172-acre fire that started on the afternoon of Sunday, October 11 near Cambria Estates Lane and Ravenhill Road reached 100 percent containment on October 14, CAL FIRE reports. At its height, evacuation orders covered areas where about 1,800 people live, with 483 structures threatened — and the orders were already being downgraded to advisories that first evening. The cause remains under investigation. Thursday brings a different kind of weather news: heavy thunderstorms and a high of just 63 degrees, so give yourself time on wet roads. One road note: northbound Sierra Highway between Placerita Canyon Road and Golden Valley Road stays closed through Friday, October 23, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for Caltrans paving. Then the weekend turns: sunshine and the high 70s for Saturday and Sunday, right on time for the quilt show, the floating pumpkin patch, and Sunday's Finish The Ride. You will find all of it in this week's Local Happenings. Also worth a cheer this week: ten productions filmed right here in Santa Clarita were Emmy-nominated this year, and six of them won — including Spider-Noir with five awards. The City issued 338 film permits in 2025, worth an estimated $14.6 million to the local economy. Read more: CAL FIRE's Bike Fire incident page |
