SCV Community Matters: The Hidden Heroes Who Erase Graffiti Overnight |

Some of Santa Clarita's best work happens before most of us are awake. The City's Graffiti Removal Team has removed 9,487 tags so far this year — and 99 percent of them within 24 hours of being reported. In July and August, the record was perfect: every single tag gone within a day. City Manager Ken Striplin spotlighted the crew this month as one of the City's "Hidden Heroes," the teams whose work residents feel every day without ever seeing it happen. Want to join them for a morning? The fifth annual Graffiti Removal Day is coming up on Saturday, November 7, and volunteers can sign up through Santa Clarita Volunteers. It is Make-a-Difference season in the SCV — this Saturday also brings Project Linus Make a Blanket Day at College of the Canyons (see this week's Local Happenings).
